What if your kitchen wasn’t a kitchen at all, but instead a Vietnamese market boat, a Sudanese tea stand, or an Argentinean charcuterie cart? That’s the idea behind Global Street Food, a multimedia exhibition conceived by Dornbracht’s creative director, Mike Meiré. Meant to inspire viewers to think about function over form in kitchen design, the exhibit is a product of Dornbracht Edges, a series of projects that reflect the intersection of architecture, design and art; in 2007 they exhibited the FARM project, a walk-in kitchen complete with live animals and a barn. The exhibit is open to the public from June 11th - July 12th, but we’re sure its impact will be around long after the carts and stands have been dismantled.

A shopping cart does double duty as a display for cheeses and charcuterie.

A rusted Argentinean coffee wagon offers a stark contrast to the ebullient pink cotton candy stand, also from Argentina.
