Barbie’s Dream House

barbie

Barbie is celebrating the big 5-0 this year, and high-profile product designers like Jonathan Adler (who designed the "Dream House," above) and Philippe Starck have created swanky, stylish memorabilia to mark the event. Here are some of our favorites from the ultra-girly, ultra-glamorous furniture and accessory collections.

This limited edition of Philippe Starck’s iconic Ghost chair for Kartell (and the newly introduced Lou Lou Ghost, in a smaller size for children) gets a new pink polycarbonate coat. Its hand-illustrated Barbie image and logo is sure to appeal to collectors and kids of all ages.

Jonathan Adler’s impeccably designed real-life Dream House on the beach in Malibu, California, comes complete with a chandelier made from thirty blonde wigs, an original Andy Warhol portrait of Barbie herself, and tons of “happy chic” accessories that pay homage to all things Barbie. A few select pieces from the Dream House will be traveling to Las Vegas (where else?) where they will adorn the new bachelorette-party-perfect Barbie suite at The Palms hotel.

A sneak peek of the limited edition “Jonathan Adler Loves Barbie” collection (available in September) showcases the opulent pop-art colors and patterns that Adler is known for. The sassy needlepoint pillow flaunts a slew of Barbie adjectives, including an all-caps nod to her peroxide-blonde locks.
