Symmetry and sleekness define this contemporary kitchen

Brad and Deidre Wiener decided to go against the grain when they built their home in Campbell Hall, New York. Their tastes run to contemporary—they love clean lines, an uncluttered look and the color chocolate-brown—which didn't seem too popular in those parts. "We were living in the country, and everyone had a country kitchen. We wanted something different and something unique to us," Deidre says. So the couple decided to bring the same aesthetic to the kitchen that flowed through the rest of the home.

"The kitchen is very streamlined; each side is a mirror of the other," says Claudia Febres, a designer at Poggenpohl's New York City showroom who worked on the kitchen with interior designer Sherry Venokur, also in New York. More fundamentally, however, the kitchen is also kosher.
