When a pair of Seattle empty-nesters asked designer Bonnie Crawford to create a sophisticated and supremely functional master bath, she responded with a luxurious four-star space full of sleek curves, bold contrasts, and a generous dose of Hollywood style. "Glam meets Zen," is how Crawford, ASID, head of the Seattlebased firm BCDInteriors, describes the former mauve-tiled bathroom's transformation from frumpy to fabulous. Among the homeowners' chief complaints was the room's clumsy layout and debilitating lack of storage. "We had to step into the shower sideways," says the wife, explaining how difficult access made the tight quarters feel even more cramped.
