A reverence to the past guides the 3rd place finalist’s primary design choice: “We wanted to honor the home’s original storyline. Like many of its mid-century contemporaries, our house was outfitted with paneling and woodwork of Honduran mahogany.” Rather than a simple demo, she worked hard to retain and expand upon this feature. She skillfully accomplishes this by echoing sensual surfaces from the outdoors with rich wood, glass, American Clay plaster and copper.
