Sitting Pretty
After searching unsuccessfully for low seating that wouldn't block her views, Maria designed and constructed these daybed lounges. Made from plywood, each 12-foot-long platform was finished with decorative molding, then stained. Twin mattresses covered with plastic pads (to ward off mildew), dressed in duck-cloth slipcovers (which Maria sewed), and coated with moisture-resistant Scotchgard were placed on top.
