Schools for the Children of the World, founded in 1996 by a group of Midwesterners (including architect Charles Newman), believes in giving kids decent buildings to learn in. It has restored more than 50 schools in Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua and is actively seeking volunteers and donations to help put more notches on its tool belt.
