17 • Van Jones, Activist

This Oakland, California-based activist launched his nonprofit Green for All with the idea that the emerging green economy might just be someone's ticket out of poverty. Using money from the Green Jobs Act of 2007 and website donations, he trains low-income people in "green-collar jobs" -- like retrofitting buildings with solar panels. Jones is helping people help the earth -- a win-win situation (GreenForAll.org). -- KL
