Tradition with a Twist

A cove ceiling with a custom soffit disguises a support beam installed when the wall between the kitchen and the dining room was knocked down. Opening up the space allowed for a long center island with wine storage on one end. Homeowner Stacey Bell wanted an eating counter, so the island's base cabinets are a shallow 18 inches to allow for stools.
