SOPHISTICATED SOAKING
Handsome, ribbon-grained mahogany paneling and a white quartz deck lend distinction to the platform tub, which is flanked by built-in bookcases crafted from the same wood. A waterproof 17-inch television monitor is recessed into a sloped marble-tiled wall—it follows the angle of the third-floor rafters—for easy viewing while bathing or exercising. Overhead, a chandelier composed of polished-chrome discs “adds to the masculine feeling,” says Olson; it also echoes similar finishes on the wall sconces and the bath, shower, and sink fixtures. The bathroom walls are painted a putty color that picks up the hue of one of the accent tiles.
