In their vibrant den sits a great example of the vinegar grain paint technique. How it works: this blanket chest was originally painted yellow with a layer of brown over it, but the pattern was not created with paint, it was created by a man’s vinegar soaked finger! Vinegar makes paint separate so when he ran his finger over the wet paint, he would expose the yellow and create brown tracings around the places he touched.
