On the dining room table is the Jeffers' collection of carpet balls. The 19th century spheres sit beautifully in a bowl but their original use was for the Victorian pastime, carpet bowl which was played on the living room or parlor floor. Carpet balls are a great collection to start because of their small size and relatively low pricing, usually $90-$300 a piece.
