The ceiling of Nick and Margot Graham’s living room in MarinCounty, California, seems to float above the simple and appealing fireplace (thanks to clerestory windows without visible frames). Channels in the ceiling contain lowvoltage lighting fixtures, some of them trained on Margot’s own paintings (the largest pieces on the wall are hers). The upholstered sofas and armchairs are custom, based on Jean-Michel Frank designs; the leather armchair is by Alvar Aalto, the coffee table by T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings.
