A mix of textures and finishes adds complexity and character to a monochromatic space

  1. Bathe walls in a rich chocolate-brown to set an intimate tone. Heighten the dramatic effect with lots of contrast such as crisp white molding and accents.

  3. Use a mix of textures— sheepskin, silk shantung, and patent vinyl upholstery— to add visual interest to a limited color palette.

  4. Choose shiny metal and mirrored surfaces in place of wood furnishings, which can feel heavy against a dark backdrop. A hint of sparkle brightens the room.
