Three ways to make the most of an occasional table
Reader's Delight
Behind a sofa, display vintage-looking novels and coffee-table reads in three
or four short stacks. Lay the stacks an equal distance apart. Pay attention
to colors on the bindings and jackets; keep the scheme simple and coordinated,
pairing like colors. Lighten an empty space between shelves with beautiful cloth-covered
photo storage boxes of the same size and in a solid hue. Cool blue boxes create
stylish appeal on a warm-toned wood console. Ensure light for reading with a
table lamp topped with a shade in either a neutral tone or a color drawn from
one of the books. Finally, set a small round silver clock and curvy dish at
the base of the lamp to break up the square and rectangular shapes on the table.
