Legends of La Cienega Design Walk

The spectacular kickoff to a well-designed summer, this glamorous three-day event of cocktail parties, lectures, book signings, and more—the first of its kind in Los Angeles—underscored the glamour quotient of the La Cienega Design Quarter. The LCDQ, hub of West Coast interior design for more than half a century, is home to luxurious shops offering everything from antiques to fine art, plus fashion boutiques, charming bistros, and trendsetting restaurants.

Sponsored by ELLE DECOR, the opening night soirée at style mecca Therien & Co. on Thursday, May 8, saw editor in chief Margaret Russell greeting more than 1,000 best-dressed guests, including fashion designer Catherine Malandrino, interior-design-legend Carleton Varney, Ross Matthews of CBS Insider, and A-list designers including Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, Madeline Stuart, James Magni, Suzanne Rheinstein, Tim Corrigan, Waldo Fernandez, Joe Nye, Kim Alexandriuk, and Tim Clarke. So big was the turnout that the celebration literally poured out of Therien’s ample courtyard into the street, as partying continued well after sunset.
