What makes good design? If anyone has the answer to this age-old question it would be the designers of the Showtime House: a transformation of a 19th century New York City townhouse into a modernist masterpiece inspired by six Showtime original series—Californication, Dexter™, The L Word®, The Tudors, Weeds and United States of Tara. The room designs are as wild and inventive as the shows that bore them but their success stems from the designers--Jamie Drake, Vicente Wolf, Tori Golub, Johnny Grey Studios, Laura Kirar, Amy Lau and White Webb--and their mastery of the decorating fundamentals. From color to texture to scale, we’ve asked our pros to break down their design process and spotlight the elements that make their rooms tick.
