For the latest in kitchen design—savvy trendsters look to the Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest winners list. Once again this national competition, now in its 15th year, has served up a smorgasbord of scrumptious style (offering a peek at emerging trends destined for the spotlight)and the lip-smacking products that’ll bring the look together.

This year’s 1,600 entries reveal an increased focus on designing high-quality kitchens within small footprints and using a mix of unexpected materials and textures in rooms of any size. Heavy adornments and embellishments are yielding to clean lines, simple design and attention to detail that’s somewhat Zen-like in look and feel. Environmentally-sustainable materials and energy-saving appliances are must-haves and repurposed furnishings are finding life anew, adding a sense of history and doing their part to lower landfills.

A seven-member judging panel of fellow designers and architects selected winners based on three criteria: superior and functional use of space, outstanding kitchen design and integration of Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.
