In lower Manhattan, designer Shamir Shah created a sophisticated, understated flat for a client whose passion is modern and Asian art.
Houston Street, though long one of lower Manhattan's most important thoroughfares, has also been one of its biggest eyesores. Now the street is getting a makeover, complete with a landscaped median and several handsome new buildings in place of parking lots and service stations. One of those buildings has just 15 units, including this 2,400-square-foot apartment, home to a young bachelor who works on Wall Street.
