When it comes to food, if it’s good enough for Alice Waters, it’s more than good enough for the masses. The famed chef and restaurateur serves the little known Warren Pear at her Berkeley, California restaurant, Chez Panisse. Their supply comes from Frog Hollow Farm, just 45 miles east of the eatery. Farmer Al Courchesne grows 11 acres of the delectable snack, along with 100 other varieties of fruit. And If Alice Waters’ endorsement isn’t enough, the Met Home staff sampled the pears in our offices and couldn’t believe our tastebuds. Can’t make the trek to California? Warren Pears are available online until January ($24/six; froghollow.com/pears) along with a wide range of other fruits, pastries, conserves and chutneys year round.

Farmer Al's bounty–Warren pears good enough for both Alice Waters and us!
