Heritage Square, a property trust made up of the oldest buildings in Cape Town, will be auctioning four artist-decorated, limited-edition magnums of Cape Riesling wine that they’ve produced from the oldest fruit-bearing vine in the Southern Hemisphere (circa 1771). Christopher Durand, owner and winemaker of the label Vins d’Orrance, produced the wine; prominent South African artists Zwelethu Mthethwa, Paul du Toit, Richard Scott and David Kuijers made the bottles into mini-masterpieces. (We bet fine art has never tasted so good.) All proceeds from the auction benefit the Zip Zap Circus School, a local non-profit organization creating opportunities for children and crossing bridges in society through free circus and performance art training.
