Savvy/Chic
Top Picks from High Point Market!
SCAD

After days at Milan Design Week, the editors of Met Home continue their search for the freshest modern design at High Point Market—the largest furniture fair in the U.S. Editor in Chief Donna Warner, Creative Director Linda O'Keeffe, Senior Design and Architecture editor Katherine Nelson and Assistant Design and Architecture editor Rachel Lexier report back with some of their favorite finds.

(Above) SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) students put on an extremely sophisticated show of contemporary designs—a treat to see such upcoming talent.

Silver Chair

Laser cut leather makes a stylish silvery swath in the Lee showroom. And it feels like soft suede.

Natural Curiosity

Natural Curiosities was a new discovery for us—whimsical and beautiful wall art (great prices, too!). Couldn't pick a favorite, but loved this big elephant.

Ercole

Ercole, a company that pioneered "pique-assiette" furniture (covered with broken pieces of colorful plates) has gone sophisticated with this mirrored cabinet.

ankasa

One more time, the fashion statement comes home, to bed. An embroidered beauty from Ankasa. And they're introducing real clothes at retail soon—can't wait!

Calvin Klein

This lacquered box nightstand is all about Calvin Klein's elegant Japanese aesthetic and one of our top favorites. Available this summer.

Magis Table

A favorite from last week's iSaloni, this new Magis table at Leif Petersen wowed everyone stateside.

Baker table

Maybe it's not everyone's definition of "modern," but we have always loved Japanese gessoed furnishings. Elegant and charming, from Baker's "Collectors' Edition."

Barbara Barry Bed for McGuire

One more time, Barbara Barry gets it completely right with this stylish, sexy but subtle bedroom, part of a stunning new collection from McGuire.

Ralph Lauren Sofa

Sometimes it's just a gut "light bulb" moment when you know you've found the perfect thing. The more we looked at this classically modern Ralph Lauren sofa, the more we fell in love.

MG+BW 20th Anniversary

Bob Williams and Mitchell Gold stand next to their company's 20th anniversary cake, copied from an actual chair. Showroom looked amazing too!

Met Home Design Team

Design editors Katherine Nelson, Linda O'Keeffe and Rachel Lexier confer next to our rental Prius, complete with whacko GPS, which they dubbed "Vera." Vera is way too opinionated.

Natuzzi chair

Natuzzi does serious color research—and orange was one of this season's top picks. Swivel chairs are also "in."

Barbara Barry

Even kicking back, Barbara Barry is all about perfection. Fully uphostered bed is new at Henredon. And her dress is totally coordinated to the collection—and perfect, too.
