Savvy/Chic
Birdcage Craze
birdcage

In our daily wanderings through the design world, we can’t help but notice—birdcages are everywhere! Birds perched on branches have long been (perhaps too long) a popular motif but now the spin is all about the hanging, curved wire enclosures. A refreshing update, the chic and playful look has got us hooked on birds all over again.

Some of our favorites…

(Above) These lamps aren’t so much cages as chic little birdie apartments. Woven from the center stalk of a palm frond, they come in three shapes and feature a tiny bird stenciled on the inner light diffuser to create the illusion of a pet inside.

pillow

The haphazard placement of the cages, the bold colors, and the childlike drawings of the birds give this pillow a fun and funky feel. It’s no wonder the vintage, 1950s print is called Happy Birds.
