There are very few things in life as difficult for a designer as designing their own home. The possibilities are endless, the client is impossible, and it hurts to go over budget. This June we are thrilled to be welcoming our first child into our home but incorporating a nursery design into a home brings a bit of trepidation. So I thought that today I would share some thoughts on options that are available whether you are doing a traditional, transitional or modern nursery (you will have to wait and see what I decided on....it's still a work in progress).
Every baby’s room has a few basic items, a crib, changing table and rocker, but I decided to share a few of my finds that add extra flavor to the room.

What to do with the wall? Painting a color is the easy part, but isn't it great to keep your options open? That’s why I love wall stickers and Blik has some of the coolest I have seen. I really like the range of designs that they offer, even the traditional ones are rendered in ways that make them new and fresh.

The bedding selection is still a source of drama but I think that we are going to use is Orange Pinwheel from Nurseryworks . I really like their modern, clean designs. You could pair them with solid color bedding too, to create a looser, more mix and match feeling.

Finally as I struggle to learn Spanish before the baby arrives, I came across these great building blocks in Spanish at Il Cocco di Mamma. They are hard to resist.

Anyway, I think the key thing to remember is, make the room a fun, bright expression of yourself, it’s a space as much for you as your baby, enjoy this chance to be creative!
