HOME TRUTHS: New Favorites from Flor

One of FLOR's newest styles: Plush, twisted fibers make for a deep, luxurious carpet that mimics the look of wall-to-wall. Rake Me Over in Slate, $16/tile.
Last month I bought my first FLOR carpet tiles to replace an area rug in my living room that I was no longer smitten with. As I rolled up my unwanted rug and unpacked my new acquisitions, I knew this modular, durable carpet would have a place in my home for some time. The company had already won me over with its great selection of patterns and colors, and its eco-conscious bent. (Stain on the rug? If you can't wash it out, you can order a single replacement tile. Then ship the old piece back to FLOR, where they'll recycle it into new carpet.) Though I haven't spilled anything on it yet, it's nice to know that I can just pick up each 19.7X19.7-inch tile and wash it in the sink—a bonus for anyone with kids or pets.

Here's the pattern I chose for my living room: Striped Poodle in Brass/Brown/Marine, $14/tile. I bought 12 tiles to create an almost 5X7-foot area rug. The photography in the FLOR catalog is inspiring, and the newest styles, shown top and below, make me want to order new tiles for my bedroom. I'm really loving the shades of gray.

Softly ribbed tiles installed in a parquet pattern create an elegant checkerboard effect. Take a Ribbing in Slate, $14/tile.

Victorian-style cabbage roses get a modern update in purple and turquoise blue. If There Be Thorns in Plum, sold as an approximately 3½ X5-foot area rug made up of six tiles, $150.
