HOME TRUTHS: The First Recliner Made for the Great Outdoors

In Category: Outdoor Furniture

The recliner is part of a larger line of outdoor furniture introduced by La-Z-Boy and BJI; other options include the rest of the Whitley collection, comprising a conversation set, oval chaise, lounge chair, side table, and ottoman, as well as the Graham collection, which features another conversation set, chaise, and dining set. The pieces were introduced to major southern markets at the beginning of February; all—including a third line, the Alexander collection—will be available nationwide by the end of March.

Currently the furniture is exclusively being sold through members-only warehouse chain Sam's Club (samsclub.com), although taking it to other retailers is under discussion. For the sake of all the Dans in your life, give these pieces a look. Whitley recliner, $599; other Whitley pieces, $92 to $1,550. Graham collection, $325 to $1,130. (lazboyoutdoor.com)

re: The First Recliner Made for the Great Outdoors

The NYTimes asks if there could possibly be a market for outdoor recliners....duh!!! Are they crazy....along with his outdoor projection TV and his patio kitchen, my husband is in joyland just thinking about the 3 Whitley recliners he intends to purchase for his football buddies.

I love this collection--I went online to order it, but there was none available, so I rushed right out to my Sam's Club to check it out! One word--awesome!! It's so comfortable, I feel like I could sit in it all day--the cushions are deep and plush and I love the color--it definitely classes up my backyard.
